Getting Back In The Swing Of Things! (With Pink Swirl Cookies)

I *knew* when I saw theses pink, delicious swirl cookies, I would have to make them the next time my sister visited. I got the idea from Prudent Baby and couldn't wait to try it out! FINALLY my sister came home this weekend and I was able to make them. I didn't have enough of any one sprinkle, so I just rolled the dough in some pretty pink sprinkles and called it good (this time).
I am so bummed I forgot to take a picture of the roll of dough!

The pretty dough waiting to be baked!

And after! Yumm!

I think she really liked them!

On the bright side, I can only go up from here :)

Here is the cake I made my mom for her birthday :) My first time using fondant, and handmade at that! I tried the marshmallow recipe that I've seen floating around for awhile. It was pretty darn easy and yummy. This was also my first time doing a layer cake like this.

Soo ignore all the imperfections (like the ruffled fondant) and focus on the sweet inside :D The pink was just regular yellow cake I colored with food coloring, and the dark was chocolate.

And here is the front/top. I almost wasn't going to get a picture of this, but I thought I would look back and cry laugh.
I can't wait to use fondant again!

A few things I've made recently :D

I'm new, so not everything (anything!) is perfect, but I tried.
This was my first attempt at freezer-paper stenciling. A bunch of my sons things have that cute little elephant on them, so I free-handed it onto the freezer paper. It looked kind of bare so I added his initials :) Kind of cute

The scrabble pillows I made my mom! They were pretty easy but I definently know what I'm doing different next time.

The first thing I made, baby blocks for my son. I didn't have a sewing machine at the time, so they're hand stitched. There's three total, and one has bells inside so it rattles. He likes it :D
